Websites

Built on whatever is right for the job, not whatever we prefer.

Next.js, static HTML, custom templates or WordPress. Four different answers to four different problems, and we will tell you which one yours is even when it is the cheaper option.

Four build paths

Including when each one is the wrong choice

Most agency pages argue there is one correct way to build a website, and it is always the one that agency sells. There is not. Here is what we would actually recommend, and what each option costs you.

Next.js

Sites that need to be fast, rank hard, and do something beyond publishing pages.

React-based, server rendered, deployed on modern infrastructure. The right choice when the site has interactive parts, a client dashboard, booking logic or hundreds of pages generated from data.

The trade-off: Overkill for a five page brochure site, and it needs a developer to change the things a template would let you edit yourself.

Static HTML

Large, content-heavy local sites where speed and crawlability decide the outcome.

Generated from structured data and served as plain files. Nothing to break, nothing to patch, and about as fast as the web gets. We use this for multi-location and service-area sites running to hundreds of pages.

The trade-off: Content changes go through a build rather than a login, so it suits sites that are updated in batches rather than daily.

Custom templates

Businesses that want a distinctive site without paying for everything bespoke.

A layout system built for your business, then applied consistently across every page. You get a site that looks like yours rather than like a theme, without the cost of designing each page from nothing.

The trade-off: Less flexible than fully bespoke design if you want every page to behave differently.

WordPress

Teams who need to edit content themselves, every day, without calling anyone.

Still the right answer when the client genuinely wants to publish and edit without a developer in the loop. We build it properly, keep the plugin count low, and take the performance seriously rather than treating it as unavoidable.

The trade-off: Needs maintaining. Plugins update, things break, and an unmaintained WordPress site is a security problem waiting to happen. Which is why we host and maintain the ones we build.

What comes with every build

  • Mobile-first layouts, because most of your traffic is on a phone and most of your calls come from one
  • Technical SEO built in from the first page rather than retrofitted: titles, canonicals, heading structure and schema
  • Call tracking numbers wired in on launch, so the site is measurable from day one
  • Forms that actually submit and notify you, with spam protection
  • Speed treated as a requirement, not a nice-to-have
  • Hosting and ongoing maintenance, so there is one team to call when something breaks

Hosting

We host what we build

When the site, the hosting and the marketing sit with three different suppliers, a slow page becomes an argument instead of a fix. The host blames the developer, the developer blames the theme, and the business owner is left mediating a technical dispute they should never have been part of.

Hosting the sites we build means security updates actually happen, performance stays our problem rather than yours, and there is one number to call. For WordPress in particular this matters: an unmaintained install is a breach waiting to happen, and maintenance is the first thing that stops when a site is handed back.

A site nobody finds is a brochure

Technical SEO goes in while the site is being built, not as a project afterwards. Titles, canonicals, heading structure and schema are part of the build standard, and the tracking numbers are wired in before launch so the site is measurable from its first day rather than its second quarter.

After launch, most clients pair the site with an SEO plan to build visibility, or Google Ads if they need calls before organic work compounds. Either way, call tracking tells you whether the new site is actually converting the traffic the old one wasted.

Questions we get asked

Whichever one fits the job. If you need to edit content daily without a developer, that points at WordPress. If you have hundreds of service area pages, static generation wins on speed and crawlability. If there is a dashboard or booking logic involved, Next.js. We will tell you which and why, including when the cheaper option is the better one.

Yes, and we would rather you let us. When the build, the hosting and the marketing sit with one team there is nobody to pass blame to when the site is slow or down. It also means security updates actually happen, which is the single most common failure on sites handed back to the client to maintain.

That depends on the platform, and it is worth deciding before we build rather than after. WordPress gives you full editing. Custom templates give you editable content in defined places. Static and Next.js builds are changed by us, which is faster and safer but means you are not making edits at midnight yourself.

They are protected deliberately or they are lost accidentally. Every existing URL is mapped and redirected, the page structure is preserved where it is already working, and the new site goes live with its technical SEO complete rather than scheduled. A rebuild that skips the redirect map is the most common way a business loses traffic it spent years earning.

Usually a mix. You know the business, the objections and what customers actually ask. We shape that into pages written for search as well as for people. What we will not do is invent credentials, results or reviews to fill a page, so anything we cannot verify comes back to you as a question.

It depends far more on how quickly content and access arrive than on the build itself. The work that stalls projects is almost always waiting on photos, copy approval or logins. We will tell you what we need up front so that the delay, if there is one, is at least visible.
